Summer Sprint Tri

This morning was the Summer Sprint Tri over in Manassas, VA.

Swim - 400 yards
Bike - 8 miles
Run - 1.8 miles

As you can see it's really a mini tri, but I thought it would be a nice warm-up to the Iron Girl on Aug 23rd. I think I did pretty good, hopefully will have my actual time later this week. The swim, as always, is the toughest part for me. I side stroked the entire way, but whatever works, right? But had a decent speed and actually passed a few people. I rocked on the bike, I passed lots of people and stayed in my big gear the entire time so I could really hammer out the ride. The run was average for me.

The only thing bad about this event is all the turns. On the bike it makes it tough to get up to a good speed and stay there. On the run they actually had us run on a mulched path, which was tough because you really needed to watch where you were running so you didn't twist an ankle.

Overall, I'm pleased with my performance but also know this is nothing compared to the Iron Girl. It's actually put me back in the panic zone again, because of the distance and the hills on the bike but my goals are to finish and have fun and would prefer not to finish last but as long as I finish I can say "I'm an Iron Girl."

Also got blisters on both feet because my feet were still wet when I put my socks on so I have to remember to dry them better.
